Embark on an unforgettable journey from the vibrant city of Marrakech, traversing through charming hamlets and quaint Berber villages until you reach the awe-inspiring Western High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you’ll trek past the picturesque villages of Imlil, Arghen, and M’zzik, soaking in the stunning views of the surroundings.

Take a break at a village in the Assif Aït Mizane Valley, perched atop ancient irrigated terraced fields of fruit trees and vegetables. Then, gear up to cross the formidable Tiz M’zzik Mountain pass (2450m) and descend through a lush forest of juniper trees to the serene Tizi Oussem village, where you’ll spend the night.

On day two, continue your adventure by descending to the picturesque Assif Azzaden Valley, passing through several charming Berber hamlets and making your way up to the Tizi Oudite pass before descending to the quaint village of Aguersiouâl. Stop for a leisurely lunch by the river before setting off for another hour up the Imlil valley, ultimately reaching the village of Imlil and concluding your journey with a transfer back to Marrakech.

Day 1Explore the High Atlas Mountains on a Trek from Marrakech to Tizi Oussem Village, via Imlil, Tizi Mzik, and Tamsoulte Waterfalls!

Start your day with a delicious breakfast in Marrakech, before being picked up and driven towards the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains via Tahnnaout, Oued Ghighaya, and Asni. Along the way, marvel at the picturesque villages dotted along the valley.

After covering a distance of 65km, arrive at Imlil, where you’ll meet your experienced guide and muleteer to start your trek. Begin by climbing up the challenging Tizi Mzik pass (2684m), where you’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the Imlil valley and the magnificent Toubkal Summit.

Continue your trek to Tamsoulte, where you’ll visit the highest waterfalls in the Atlas Mountains, towering at an impressive height of 100m. From there, journey down through the refreshing juniper forest of the Azzaden valley, before finally arriving at the charming Tizi Oussem village. Spend the night at a cozy guest house in the village, after approximately 6 hours of walking. This day promises to be a truly unforgettable experience in the stunning High Atlas Mountains.

Day 2Trek from Tizi Oussem to Id Issa, Mattat, Agersioual, and Back to Marrakech via Tizi Oudid.

On the second day of the trek, after enjoying a hearty breakfast, you will take in the stunning beauty of the valley and its charming Berber villages, complete with traditional mud-brick homes and bright, colorful textiles. From Tizi Oussem, you will start descending towards Id Issa village, a small, peaceful hamlet with lush green surroundings and a tranquil atmosphere.

After a brief stop, you will continue your journey towards Tizi Oudid, a mountain pass at an altitude of 2000m. The trek to the pass will take you through a wild thurifer juniper forest, with its fragrant aroma and beautiful foliage. Once you reach the pass, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes, including rolling hills, verdant valleys, and snow-capped peaks.

From there, you will cross Matat village, located on a hilltop, where you can take in more stunning views of the region. You will then stop for a leisurely lunch break under the shade of walnut groves, and unwind by the river, with the peaceful sound of flowing water.

After lunch, you will head towards Agersioual, a charming village surrounded by verdant hills and valleys, before transferring back to Marrakech in the afternoon. You will arrive back in the city at approximately 5 pm, after a memorable trekking experience of around 5 hours.
